Romney is backing the minimum wage increase.

The former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said last Friday that Republicans should drop their opposition on the minimum wage. Romney says the Republican party should support the raise of the minimum wage because Republicans are all about creating more jobs and better pay. Romney is now the third known Republican to say resisting the minimum wage increase is hurting the party's brand. Romney has said that he is not interested in running for president again in 2016, but it is interesting that he is calling out his party. What do you think about Mitt Romney not supporting the republican party on this issue?

  3. I think it takes a lot of balls for one man to come out and support something that a whole lot of people in their political party do not support. Being that Romney was the former Governor of Massachusetts (i.e. hardcore liberal territory), he is going to think differently than a governor from a hardcore conservative state (i.e. the south), and as a result, is likely to be more moderate and supportive of such an debatable issue like the minimum wage.

  4. It does take a lot of balls to come out and support something that will hurt our economy.

  5. Here's my opinion: if an increase in minimum wage makes us better off, then I support it whereas if in the end it makes us worse off, then I don't support it. Simple as that.

  6. well if you support the loss of about 500,000 jobs than go ahead and support the increase in minimum wage.

  7. Raising the minimum wage will help more people than it will hurt. People can't live off of $8 an hour, it just increases government aid. If the minimum wage were to rise then the government would have more money and self sustaining citizens.

  8. Australia's minimum wage is about $16/hr. Seattle, WA has just raised theirs to $15/hr. Obviously it's working and helping people if this is the way places are going.

With the job market... We should be putting mandates on large corporations like Walmart to insource a percentage of their outsourced operations and condition them to fines if they don't in the allotted time requirement. There are thousands of jobs worldwide provided to people in other countries when that money could come right into our own economy. That's how we should be helping the job market.
